Anand was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2012. He commenced his legal career with Kumar Partnership (formerly Sri Ram & Co.), where he was involved in appellate litigation before the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.
He subsequently established and led his own legal practice, where he acted in a broad range of commercial and civil disputes, regularly appearing before the appellate courts and successfully representing clients in complex litigation. Across more than a decade in private practice, Anand built a strong track record of securing favourable judgments and negotiated settlements in a wide spectrum of contentious matters.
Anand later transitioned to the energy sector, where he held senior in-house legal positions with leading multinational oil and gas companies, including Sapura Energy Berhad and Halliburton Malaysia.
As Head of Legal for Sapura Energy’s global Engineering & Construction and Drilling divisions, Anand advised on complex EPCIC, offshore construction and drilling contracts, consortium and joint bidding arrangements, project risk allocation, and disputes arising from major international energy projects. He also provided strategic legal advice to senior management and board committees on contractual risk, project developments, dispute resolution, and cross-border legal issues.
Anand subsequently joined Halliburton Malaysia as Commercial Legal Counsel, where he supported upstream operations across Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, advising on commercial contracts and legal matters relating to the company’s regional operations.
Drawing on his extensive experience in both private practice and as in-house counsel, Anand possesses a deep understanding of the legal, commercial and operational considerations that shape decision-making in large-scale energy projects. His experience enables him to provide practical, commercially focused advice that aligns legal strategy with business objectives.
